✛ Methodology

How Pioneership is built.

Pioneership is a personality assessment focused on one thing: how you create, the part of you that shows up when something new gets built. It scores two axes: Creation (Pioneering the new ↔ Perfecting the proven) and Focus (Pattern ↔ Throughput). Your position on those two axes places you in one of four quadrants, Visioneers, Catalysts, Scalers, Marshals, and resolves to a primary and secondary type among the eight Pioneership types, always shown as a spectrum, never a single box.

Every answer option carries calibrated weights on both axes. Scoring is fully deterministic: the same answers always produce the same result, and AI is used only to write the narrative around your scores, never to decide them.

The scoring model is published in full below, together with what is proven today and what is still pending validation.

Separate from the instrument's evidence, the founder's pedigree: the brands his high-innovation teams built for, and the awards those teams won.

What we don't hide

  • · Your result always shows the spectrum behind the label; a borderline result says so plainly.
  • · Every report carries a clarity score per section; a mushy result reads LOW instead of pretending. The clarity score is a designed heuristic from your axis positions and type gap, not a statistical confidence interval; real reliability figures publish below once the pilot lands.
  • · The flow-channel idea on our homepage is our own extension of Csikszentmihalyi's flow model, applied to type instead of skill. It is a theory we believe in, not yet validated; the pilot is testing it.
  • · Answer order is randomized per person, so the assessment cannot be gamed by pattern-matching.
  • · Your result names what your profile is missing, not only what it is good at.

Measurement error, shown

Every psychological measurement has error. Pioneership shows the measurement error that most tests hide. Each axis score carries a ±1 standard-error band computed from the consistency of the respondent's own answers: the standard error of their mean item signal per axis, propagated to the type scores by re-scoring the corners of the band. Consistent answering earns a tight band; scattered answering gets a wider one. When the reliability pilot lands, the empirical reliability coefficients will be published here alongside this per-person estimator.

Reliability numbers: publishing after the pilot

We are running a structured reliability pilot (internal-consistency and test-retest, 2 to 4 week windows, plus convergent validity against the open-source Big Five item bank). The real figures will be published on this page, whatever they are. We do not publish claims we have not measured.

The expert council that checks the work

Every part of Pioneership is reviewed by a standing council of AI expert reviewers. They are transparent reviewer roles, not hired staff or borrowed human credentials, each modelled on a real discipline and reasoning from its established literature: the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing, classical and item-response test theory, the Five Factor Model, Holland's work on person-environment fit, flow research, and the Barnum-effect literature on why vague feedback feels personal. Their job is narrow and strict: hold every sentence, score, and claim to two tests. Is it grounded, meaning derived from the scoring, backed by named science, or measured on real data? And is it genuinely useful, not flattery that would fit anyone? One set of reviewers attacks the work; a second, fresh set verifies each finding against the source before it counts. This council is how we catch overclaiming. It does not replace the validation pilot above, which is what earns the empirical numbers.

Where each reviewer contributes

  • Test creation. The psychometrician and the differential psychologist check that every item measures one thing, that both options are equally fair, and that no wording flatters one answer over the other.
  • Validation. The psychometrician and the statistician design and read the reliability pilot, and refuse any number the study has not actually produced.
  • Scoring. The statistician checks that every figure and chart has a clear source and a straight account of its uncertainty, and that the clarity read is never dressed up as a validated statistic.
  • Results and reporting. The behavioural scientist, the plain-language editor, and a panel of deliberately skeptical readers check that the report says something specific and useful rather than a horoscope, and the fairness reviewer checks that no type is framed as better than another.
  • Coaching. The fairness and psychometrics reviewers set the guardrails that stop the AI coach from inventing a statistic, closing a door on you, or speaking outside what it is for.
